Using our expertise from Oil and Gas survey instrument design, we have developed the Fusion™ system for Horizontal Directional Drilling applications. The Fusion gyro integrates an all angle northseeking solid state gyro with onboard magnetics, to provide traditional steering tool support for magnetic tracking purposes. Additional the Fusion system has the ability to provide both drillpipe and annulus pressure readings for hole monitoring purposes. The Fusion gyro uses a patented technology to take real time surveys and is designed to withstand the shock and vibration of the drilling environment.

Technology

The Fusion™ system is the smallest HDD survey system available and replaces the traditional steering tool in the drill collar. It does not require any special subs and is compatible with industry standard 'Tensor' style steering tools.  The incorporates the latest multi axis solid state (MEMS) gyro and accelerometer technologies. This combined with advanced electronics and calibration software provides high accuracy performance in a rugged package.

The system consists of an Fusion™ tool which is a fully integrated instrument capable of being run in real time and memory mode. The run on an electric wireline connected to a surface power supply and PC and also contains an integrated re-chargeable battery pack.  Under normal circumstances, the Fusion tool is in a 50mm pressure case.
