Gyroflex Solid State Northseeking Gyro (GS2)
After an extensive R&D program to advance the Gyroflex™ Explorer and Gyroflex Navigator line of GTL wellbore surveying technology, GTL has introduced the Gyroflex Solid State (GS2). The GS2 represents the world’s first high accuracy solid state (MEMS) northseeking gyro survey tool, combining the flexibility of the Gyroflex product range with the increased ruggedness of solid state sensors. The technology has no moving parts and provides further advances in “gyro-flexibility”.
Technology
The GS2™ instrument is small and rugged and incorporates the latest multi axis solid state (MEMS) gyro and accelerometer technologies. This combined with advanced electronics and calibration software provides high accuracy performance in a rugged package.
System
The system consists of an GS2™ instrument which is a fully integrated instrument capable of being run in real time or memory mode. The tool can run on either an electric wireline connected to a surface power supply and PC or with the addition of an Alkaline battery pack, run on slick / braided line or in free fall drop mode. The GS2™ also includes a depth monitoring system for increased survey resolution. Under normal circumstances, the GS2 tool would be run in a 1.75” pressure case / thermal shield to maintain temperature stability.
GS2™ Applications and Benefits
-
Worlds first Solid State Northseeking gyro – no moving parts – most rugged gyro on the market.
-
Field proven to be highly reliable in our own service operations.
-
High accuracy and temperature range in a small size unlike most other gyros of this type (1.75” inside the combined pressure case / thermal shield)
-
Application flexibility – one tool – multiple services
-
Wireline Mode : High Speed Continuous Survey / Orientation/ Steering / Multishot Survey mode with real time surface readout
-
Memory Mode : Alkaline Battery powered slick line or Go-Devil Drop surveys, High Speed Continuous Survey
-
Advanced software calibration techniques mean no onsite calibration required.
-
Easy to use Drillog™ application software interface
